Flare Launches "Flare Analytics" — Driving Behavior Analysis and Visualization via Smartphone and AI

Flare Inc. (Representative Director: Kazuki Kamiya; hereinafter “Flare”), which develops and operates Flare Ad — a car-wrapping advertising platform that matches advertisers with vehicle owners in the Kingdom of Thailand — has received registrations from more than 20,000 vehicle drivers in total since service launch in June 2017. Through Flare Ad, Flare has been acquiring and analyzing driving behavior data and utilizing it to optimize ad delivery. Building on this track record, we have developed Flare Analytics, a solution that enables driving behavior data acquisition and analysis using only a smartphone.

Flare Analytics consists of an SDK (Software Development Kit) and a backend system. The proprietary SDK embedded in an application captures data on driving behaviors generally considered dangerous — such as rapid acceleration, sudden braking, U-turns, and speeding — as well as smartphone use while driving, which has recently surged as a cause of accidents. The system uses our proprietary judgment logic along with AI (artificial intelligence) trained on data from more than 20,000 Flare Ad drivers to analyze and evaluate driving dynamics and driver behavior.

Flare Analytics is available on both iOS and Android platforms. The ability to run on Android devices is a particularly important feature for ASEAN markets, where Android accounts for more than 75% of mobile OS share, making Android compatibility essential.

As of July 2019, the ASEAN mobile OS market share was: Android 75.7%, iOS 23.6%, Other 0.8%.*

Going forward, we plan to develop our own services leveraging Flare Analytics, pursue development for various industries including the automotive sector (e.g., commercial fleet management) and the auto insurance sector (e.g., telematics insurance), and will also offer “Flare Analytics for Partners” — a SaaS-based service for businesses that wish to leverage Flare Analytics. (Coming soon.)
